What first inspired you to try art?

I was invited to a Paint Nite event in 2018.  Virtually the moment my paint brush touched canvas, I knew I had to keep painting.

Was there ever a moment you wanted to quit art all together, and if so what brought passion and inspiration back?

I have never wanted to quit.  In fact, I wish I had more time to devote to painting.

Have you gone to art school or are you self taught? If you’re self taught what resources or exercises did you use to learn?

I am self taught.  I love exploring to see what I can do on my own and turning to the online art community when I need guidance.

What is the most challenging part about being an artist for you? How did you overcome that challenge?

The most challenging part for me was first showing my work to others.  It took some time, but I finally did and received nothing but positive feedback and encouragement to keep going.

What does art mean to you?

My art is a reflection of my happiness.  I can look at each one of my pieces and know I was in a happy place when I created it.  Being in my art room is being surrounded by happiness.

What would you recommend to new artists trying to build a career? What are the keys to success?

Although I can't really answer this as I'm not a full time successful selling artist.  I see it said over and over again, you must preserve, practice and treat it like a business and don't compare your work to other artists.  You do you.

What would you go back and tell your younger artistic self if you could?

If I could go back in time, I would tell the young and very shy girl that I was that a critique from my art teacher is not a criticism.  They really were trying to help.

Where do you see yourself in the future? What are some of your goals?

I will keep working on discovering my abilities, seeking out help when I need it and continuing this wonderful and creative journey and working on the business side of art.

What drives the inspiration in your paintings? How would you describe your style?

I love landscapes and seascapes!  I lived by the ocean for many years and loved watching the changes in the water, the skies and the seasons.  I'm forever watching the clouds and snapping pictures for reference.  I'm still developing a style, so we'll see how that ends up.
